Movies Capital Review – Is MoviesCapital a Scam?
MoviesCapital.com is a new site that provides movie buffs with an opportunity to download or stream hundreds of movies online. They are also operating with complete legality as they’ve obtained licensing rights for the movies they host.
The site is quickly growing and is becoming one of the most popular destinations for people searching for ways to watch movies on their PCs. However with all the bogus programs out there and the dozens of hastily put together TV to PC products most people simply want to know what it is they’ll get out of their Movies Capital membership.
So What’s Inside…?
I signed up for the platinum membership plan for $39.95 which would give me 2 years of unlimited access to all sections including: Movies, Cartoons, Horror Movies, Family Movies, Comedy Movies, Action Movies, Suspense Movies, Adventure Movies, Classic Movies, Complete DVD Releases and much more…
However, once inside the members’ area I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. You’ll realize that having completely legal content as opposed to P2P sharing comes at a cost. While there were what seemed to be several hundred, if not more, movies the collection was made up of primarily decades old, independent, and lesser known movies.
The majority of the films in the MoviesCapital database are from the 80’s and 90’s with few recent choices. Unfortunately there’s really no way around this as it would be impossible to get licensing for brand new movies because they’re going to DVD and premium networks first.
Thus, if you want completely legal content you’re forced to do what Movies Capital has done and that is build a library of older and independent films. To add more value to their membership they have also added some extra features, which include tutorials, a few live TV channels, and a collection of south park episodes.
So is Movies Capital a Scam…?
The company is not a scam as they do deliver on the service that they advertise; however I do not believe that this product would be right for everyone. The current complaints about this company all have to deal with selection quality.
I think that people who enjoy older and indie movies will benefit the most from a MoviesCapital membership. But if you’re buying this product with the notion of having the latest movies at your disposal then you’ll surely be disappointed.
On the other hand if you know what you’re getting yourself into then you can definitely find a lot of great movies that aren’t on everyone’s radar. Click Here to Check out MoviesCapital.com

This site borders on being a scam. Unless you read their Terms of Service, you won’t realize until it’s too late that their selection of movies is very limited and relegated to B movies (many of which you’ve never heard of).
In their Terms of Service they list the movies available for download. I recognized only a few titles, and they were all B movies from 20+ years ago. The rest I’ve never heard of, which should say it all right there.
They also advertise their movies are “DVD Quality”. Sorry people, AVI files are NOT dvd quality. They aren’t bad, but they are compressed files. Compressing 4.5 GB movies down to 700MB size is NOT “dvd quality”.
In short, this site does tell you they are ripping you off IF YOU READ THE FINE PRINT, but they count on the fact that most people don’t bother to read the fine print (Terms of Service).

After buying an unlimited membership, I found that they had no movies worth downloading. I waited and kept watch hoping that they would eventually add something worthy of downloading, and after a year still nothing. For a long time the site was down and Now when I try to log in it won’t let me in members area. Don’t waste your time and money on this, IT IS A SCAM.

Just found their site when I came across Ch.131.com and Capital was showing there too. I’m in Canada and see a resemblance to netflix.ca as opposed to their sister station in the U.S. Still a good deal for those who “haven’t seen it all” (LOL) and if you have, then you’ve obviously worn out a few sofas along the way…
For this site as well as 131 I see it as just another to add to the long list of online viewing for movies, shows etc. In Canada we’re behind on a lot of things so when I missed the 1st episode of Weeds last week and tonight Ep. 2 is showing, I looked around to see if I could catch up. Even tried YouTube and found the usual morons who post something that will certainly be removed/flagged to begin with (and it was). Of course the scammers offer cough, “their sites” and promise the world too. Watch out for viruses if you visit some, my Norton Online Defense went off like crazy (LOL) but in the end I came across 131 and although the hook for Weeds Ep. 1 was to sign up, still saw what I had missed. Commercial free, isn’t the most outstanding quality but what do you want for free? @131 and the side choice for movies, is where I found the hook for Capital and yeah, I’m somewhat skeptical at times too.
lastly, yet another one eventually coming for sat. users? freedbs.org and for their initial run you’ll be able to use your FTA receiver IN original factory default settings/software and watch their couple of dozen channels. Some say it’s a scam BUT if they advise you can use the FTA box you might already have, then no scam since all of mine are currently sitting as DEAD after a really long run of free Dishnetwork and Bell’s ExpressVu

I’d be nice to find a site that sells new AVI downloads for a small fee. Buying blank DVDs, covers, and hi speed internet is already costly. I don’t want to be a pirate. Thanks for everyone’s reviews; I almost signed up.

MoviesCapital.com is the WORST site to get your movies, the newest movies they had was from 2008 and its movies you’ve never heard of trust me! Even the movies on there main page aren’t even in there list of movies…then when you want your money back they won’t respond till you threaten to get a lawyer involved and they will claim you never sent them and e-mail. Then you tell them you have proof and they tell you they don’t care about your proof…Because of CNN and sites like this I wasted money and time and never watched one movie. Took me about 2 months to get my money back. Hope this review helped make your mind up…

A complete scam. They won’t refund you or even reply to your emails but if you paid through clickbank then you should be able to get a refund through them.
January 16th, 2011 at 4:52 pm
absolute crock scam. you can’t even find a review for any of the movies as no one has ever heard of them. if you want anything that even resembles a current/ decent movie stay away from this site cos it is a load of BS

I recently joined and downloaded some films. They are old and some are B Grade. Some of my friends refused to watch. I have now logged on again to search for some possibly better movies and I keep on receiving an error message and cannot download anything.
I figure for $40 I should be able to get at least 10-15 reasonable movies that I can keep and watch again so the value is alright. My problem was that my Visa card got scammed when I paid that way – warning to pay by Paypal.

I wish I had seen these reviews before I signed up!! I’m so disappointed in this web site. Yes, I feel totally ripped off and let down. I took a risk and regret it. I must have searched over 30 popular films that were not new releases only to find ‘no matches’.
Have asked for a refund but I suspect Click Bank will not entertain…I guess Click Bank are in association with Movies Capital if they are not giving refunds to anyone. My advice, don’t go anywhere near this site. I am advertising a bad review of this site all over the internet so that people like me do not go anywhere near this site again.

ABSOLUTE THIEVING BASTARDS! DON’T THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY PEOPLE. THESE CROOKS SHOULD BE THROWN IN JAIL!!! REFUND? WHAT REFUND? Absolute thievery!!!
November 10th, 2010 at 10:51 pm
Movies Capital definitely does not have a “no questions asked” return policy. So far I’ve emailed them three times with no luck in getting my money back…
November 6th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
This is a complete rip off. I am not even talking about the bad selection, more about the difficulty to download these movies, I have to try several times until I got it, then the quality is awful and there are a lot of cut offs during the movies. I’ve bought a package of 25 movies and they don’t offer refund for that, support is a joke, they want your money. Please, make a favor to yourself and STAY AWAY of it.

Movies Capital is a complete SCAM! I downloaded DUEL part 1 which has a description of the story line and then once downloaded reveals to the viewer, a behind the scenes interview with each person that made the film… this “movie” had 4 and a half stars rating, we didn’t get to see the movie at all, just a bunch of film makers sitting around and glorifying their work.
September 6th, 2010 at 9:20 pm
this is the worst site in the world the only thing they do is to find a bunch of old third class no one want to see movies and they don’t care about you let me say God will get them for this
August 24th, 2010 at 5:32 am
No they are not scam..yes i agree that some sites are scam and wasted peoples time and money but believe me not every site is like that specially this they are not going to cheat you..
August 23rd, 2010 at 4:58 am
Movies capital’s not a scam and if it is, it won’t be in existence by now. Another reason Movies capital is not a scam is that you have a 100% no-quibble money back guarantee.
Refund Policy: Movies capital comes with a 60 day no-questions-asked refund policy. Better yet, payment is processed through Clickbank, one of the world’s largest online payment, processors and Clickbank guarantees the refunds. What does this mean to you the consumer? Simply this – If you’re not happy with the Movies capital, there’s no need to deal with Movies capital to obtain your refund. You just send an email to Clickbank and your refund is processed automatically by them. All of which makes ordering very safe.
Check it out for yourself, i am sure you’ll like it. But for God’s sake don’t believe people who call Movies capital a scam(60 day full refund policy, remember!), since they only want to tarnish the image of the website. Take care and have fun! Thanks.

Do NOT buy a subscription through these bastards, I have just been SCAMMED! I read their “if you’re not completely satisfied, 60 day” blah blah refund policy and felt ok about going with them. Once inside, I realized what absolutely CRAP they were peddling, seriously, I live in the middle of NOWHERE in SOUTH AFRICA and my DVD store has a MUCH better selection. I am so angry right now I’m spitting flames!
Their refund policy?
“You can ATTEMPT to get a refund” …. yes, they actually use that word ‘ATTEMPT’… Here, and I quote: “Please note that reasons like : “I didn’t know how many movies are in the members area”, “I didn’t know which movies are in the members area” , or “i thought the service was something else” including technical issues which are handled by our support and especially accounts that were already used to download and/or stream are not reasonable requests because before you registered and prior to creating your account at moviescapital.com you were obligated to read and sign that you have read and accept the terms of use entirely and the service including the full list of movie titles and limits is clearly stated there.”
They rely on people being blase about not reading pages and pages of TOU, get you to click the convenient tick box, and then run off with your money. I wish there was some sort of watchdog who could take care of this, but obviously this is just a lesson learned.

steve, michelle and amy all say the exact same words, wow, how cool is that….NOT! big scam it is then.
July 19th, 2010 at 3:36 am
Hello Meredith
May I be so bold as to ask how you went about getting your refund. I have sent several e-mails requesting a refund but none have been answered.
July 19th, 2010 at 3:33 am
I agree this site is misleading and a big waste of your money. If you find a movie you can recognize its very old and out dated. The rest are unknowns totally unrecognizable. Thing is by the time you figure this out you have already paid the subscription. I have tried several e-mails (which they boast about good tech service) and have got no response. I guess I will have to take the loss and live and learn.
June 13th, 2010 at 10:13 pm
yeah they say full refund but getting it is impossible so far
June 13th, 2010 at 10:12 pm
total scam!! false advertising! dont believe their bullshit

Chad,
I agree with you that a preview feature would really help people decide if the product is right for them but I do have to point out that Movies Capital does offer a refund.
All products on ClickBank have a 60 day money back guarantee.

I THINK IT’S A SCAM. GOING TO THE NEW YORK’S TIMES BEST ONE THOUSAND MOVIES I TRIED TO GET 30 OF THEM AND CAPITAL HAD NONE OF THEM. I FINALLY GAVE UP.
April 27th, 2010 at 1:33 am
I am happy to report that I received a full refund of my Movies Capital subscription through Clickbank. I was within the 60 day refund period. They were very prompt and professional.
April 24th, 2010 at 4:12 am
I was looking seriously about buying a subscription. So I read every word in the FAQ section. I was SOLD until I saw that they want you to e-mail them the receipt number and they’ll activate the account immediately.
Not a bother? If the site is legit – WHY does it use a yahoo.com address instead of a business address.
The domain is bought through godaddy.com – its EASY to set up an e-mail address using godaddy.com interface.
Nuff said!
April 22nd, 2010 at 10:45 pm
I agree with everyone that Movies Capital is a scam in that it does not allow preview of its movie selection before purchase. Obviously they know what a load of rubbish they are offering! I have just requested a refund and will also contact Clickbank to ensure that this is followed up.

Then PLEASE tell me how in the heck you get a refund out of them???? I paid for the unlimited membership of $39.95. Browsed the titles. Saw NOTHING there I would download and IMMEDIATELY sent them 3 emails requesting a refund (all this within a 30 minute time frame). I have not heard a word back from them!
I paid using PayPal and PayPal would not back me up stating that their policy only covers “merchandise” purchased thru their service. I am simply sick to my stomach about the entire incident.
April 10th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
What an absolute load of CRAP, RIPOFF, RIPOFF, RIPOFF. Take yourself to any flea market, you will surely get better selection and value.

Hello
Could anyone give me a few examples of avaliable movies at “Movies Capital”
Give me a few movies from 2009/2010 and from
1995-2008
Kind regards
Magnus

i agree, movies capital is a ripoff. after signing up, i wasn’t happy with their movie selection. i did not download one bit of it and requested for a refund, but to no avail. anyone that does not allow a refund (considering preview was not available) for one unhappy customer is a fraud. i hope some internet police can look into this so that this site will stop ripping people off the hard-earned money.

Any business that doesn’t let people see the product and has no refunds is a SCAM.
